DPS Snapshots with Natalie Brigham - Oct. 11
- Callout: For Multilingual Parents and Community To Join the MLE team at the Zoo
Join the Multilingual Education (MLE) District Advisory Committee (DAC) on Wednesday, October 16 from 9-11 a.m. at the Denver Zoo. Come learn about the Seal of Biliteracy and other important programs for DPS students at our Resource Fair. There will be FREE entrance to the zoo, a light breakfast and interpretation services available. We have the event flyers and the preregistration link available in our show notes. 2. Superintendent Student Cabinet
The Superintendent Student Cabinet kicks off on Tuesday, October 22nd! This opportunity is open to any & all high school students who are interested in having input on important district matters. The only ask is that students should be enthusiastic about working on projects that elevate student voice across the district. We’ll link the flier and the sign-up form in our shownotes.
3. DPS Hosts National Walk and Roll to School Day: Local Celebrities as Guest Crossing Guards
October 9 was National Walk and Roll to School Day. It’s a day to highlight the importance of reducing emissions while keeping our school crosswalks safe for when students walk or roll to school. DPS along with community partners and volunteers hosted this event district wide with over 40 schools participating in the event. And like previous years, we had local celebrities help out as guest crossing guards. The list of local celebrities included Lutinetenant Governor Dianne Primavera, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston and our very own Superintendent Dr. Alex Marrero.

4. Join Us for the Family Cultural Festival: Celebrate Diversity and Wellness on November 9th!
Join us for a fun, family-friendly festival that celebrates multicultural diversity and fosters community connections! This event will be om Saturday, November 9th, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Harvey Park Recreation Center. Attendees can enjoy wellness resources, and build stronger relationships with both the DPS FACE team and Harvey Park Recreation Center. Let’s come together to learn, support one another, and celebrate our cultural roots!

5. DPS Discount Days: Magic of the Jack O'Lanterns
The Magic of the Jack O’ Lanterns is a hit for all ages. The event is described as “A MAGICALLY ILLUMINATED JACK O' LANTERN EXPERIENCE “ and features a glowing trail of thousands of hand-carved pumpkins. Besides the captivating pumpkin carvings, there is also live entertainment, food and more fall activities.
The experience is running from Wednesday, October 9 to Saturday, November 2, 2024 in Littleton, CO 80120
