“Your Voice/Tu Voz” Family Survey opens on October 7 and will be open through Friday, Nov. 1. Responses to this survey are incredibly valuable because they help inform decisions on how DPS can better serve its families.
Please please please exercise your voice and help make an impact by participating in this year’s survey.
Is this story making you think about last year’s survey results? Don’t worry. We’ve got you.
Last year’s results. Please note, this year’s survey link will not be functional until October 7.

4. Sweet Treat for Students
A donut mascot visited McMeen Elementary and Bruce Randolph School and handed out free donuts to students who arrived to class on time as part of DPS’s “Do Not Miss School Campaign.” Students loved the surprise and certainly didn’t want to miss out on the chance to grab a free donut! You can check out a recap of the donut days festivity recapped by CBS news in our show notes. Video here.
5. October Celebrations
BUCKLE UP. Did you know that October is…
- National Principals Month
- Disability Awareness Month
- Dyslexia Awareness Month
- National Physical Therapy Month
- Career & College Success Month
- And a continuation of Hispanic Heritage month
- Not to mention Oct. 2 was custodian appreciation day
- Oct. 6 is National coaches day
- And next week is DPS Classified Employee Recognition Week, which celebrates paraprofessionals, facilities managers, food service workers and other team members who keep DPS running every day.
It takes a full CREW to keep our schools and DPS communities running smoothly. I know everyone is incredibly busy, but if you can, please take a moment to reflect, appreciate and celebrate the people in your community that contribute to making your school/team/department the unique space that it is.
